My dog Nicki is in this photo. She is far better looking than I even though she's still a baby. She's also very smart and energetic. Part of my days are spent waiting for her to run out of steam and fall asleep.

I am President and Founder of a not-for-profit that advocates for the preservation of historic architecture and landscape design. I also teach U.S. History at a couple of colleges in the greater NYC area.

And I've been a photographer on and off for the last few decades or so, among other things. Plus I play a mean doumbek (seriously).

I’ll be posting images (some of my own but also of others), my thoughts and thoughts of others that strike me at a given moment. Architecture, design, dogs, history, music, baseball, people and life in general are things that interest me - things that reflect the passage of time in nuanced and not nuanced ways. And sometimes I just like the way something or somebody looks.

I am still a lover of film photography but a reluctant user of digital. My images are in a few museums and have been reasonably well published over the years but there's always more to do.
